JKDJF urges UN to facilitate Kashmir resolution, stop Indian state terrorism Breaking

January 20, 2026

The Jammu and Kashmir Displaced Justice Forum (JKDJF) has called for a peaceful and just resolution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute.  The Forum in a statement advocated for the realization of the fundamental right to self-determination in accordance with international law and United Nations principles, and sought an end to Indian policies perceived as contributing to political marginalization and systemic injustice.

The Forum’s General Secretary, Mukhtar Ahmed Baba, while paying tributes to the martyrs of the January massacres in Sopore, Gawkadal, Magarmal Bagh (Srinagar), Handwara, and Kupwara, urged the international community to support a peaceful process that meaningfully addresses the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Forum maintains that lasting stability can only be achieved through the acknowledgment of political grievances, the protection of human rights in IIOJK, and the facilitation of an inclusive process that enables the people to freely determine their political future through a plebiscite, as mandated by United Nations resolutions.

The JKDJF stated that lakhs of Kashmiris have been displaced since 1947 from IIOJK due to the unresolved Kashmir dispute and Indian state terrorism, urging New Delhi to end its systematic and brutal acts, anti-Kashmir policies, and violations of international law.

The displaced Kashmiris, living far from their families across different parts of the world, continue to await an end to Indian occupation.  The JKDJF also appealed to the United Nations and peace-loving countries worldwide to intervene for the release of political detainees, including the Hurriyat leadership, and to engage India in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, as mandated by UN resolutions.
