JKLF condemns altered witness testimonies in decades-old cases against Yasin Malik Breaking

November 26, 2025

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned a politically motivated attempt to revive 35-year-old cases against its illegally detained Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and his associates by bringing back old witnesses with altered statements before the TADA court in Jammu.  JKLF spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Dar, in a statement, said that during the latest hearing, the Modi-led government, through the CBI, produced a witness who had testified in 1990 that he was unable to identify any of the accused.

He said it was deeply concerning that after 35 years, the same witness was brought back under government pressure to change his testimony, a move that raises serious questions about India’s judicial system.  He termed the development as a blatant human rights violation and part of wider campaign to silence popular pro-freedom leaderships in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by subjected them to fabricated and politically motivated cases.

Dar also condemned the fresh spree of arrests and harassment of civilians by Indian forces in IIOJK.  He asserted that such oppressive actions have created a pervasive atmosphere of fear and terror across the territory. Dar urged the international community, particularly global human rights organizations, to intervene and pressurize India to put an end to its continuing rights abuses in IIOJK.
