Commissioner Amir Karim Khan on Wednesday said that journalists play a vital role in shaping public opinion and providing cognitive guidance to society, stressing the importance of positive journalism in promoting national development.He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a digital media room at the local Press Club.
The Commissioner noted that digital advancement has become an essential component of modern journalism and overall social progress.Journalists from various electronic and print media organizations, members of civil society, officers from district and divisional administrations, and local dignitaries attended the event.Notable attendees included MNA Chaudhary Nazir Araein.
MPA Chaudhary Muhammad Yusuf, former provincial minister Mahmood Ghuman, President Tehsil Bar Association Rana Altaf Hussain, General Secretary Ali Javed Gujjar, among others. The Commissioner announced that the Punjab government had allocated a grant of Rs2.5 million for the renovation and digitalization of the Press Club, Burewala.
He added that the provincial government was taking concrete steps to ensure the welfare of journalists and press clubs across the province.President of the Press Club, Asghar Ali Javed, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for securing the grant and assured that the funds would be utilized transparently and responsibly.
