Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Mohammad Awais has survived an assassination attempt when gunmen who were travelling in a car opened fire on him in Khairpur. According to details, some children who were sitting in a Suzuki vehicle also remained unhurt in the attack. Sources said that the accused attacked the Maulana over the issue of not allowing their vehicle to cross. Soon after the firing incident, the assailants escaped from the scene.

Police rushed to the spot immediately and cordoned off the entire area. The police started an investigation after collecting evidence from the site of the incident. Earlier on November 5, 2025, a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and well-known Naat Khawan, Maulana Abdul Salam, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Hanif Petrol Pump in Charsadda.
