After much delay, the annual elections of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) will be held on May 7, 2026, in Karachi.Earlier, the annual elections of Karachi Bar Council were scheduled for December 2025.Sindh Bar Council has already constituted an ad hoc committee in this regard. Around 8,000 lawyers will use their right to vote. Earlier, the Pakistan Bar Council postponed the Karachi Bar Association elections for an indefinite period.

The decision was issued following an appeal filed by Advocate Mumtaz Khan Tanoli. He argued that the election board formed under the Sindh Bar Council failed to verify the voters’ lists. According to the Pakistan Bar Council, holding elections without proper verification would make the process non-transparent.  It added that elections cannot be conducted without implementing the Sindh Bar Council’s own directives.
