The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local public holiday on June 8 (Monday) to mark the annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi. In a notification issued by the municipal authority on Sunday, KMC said that June 8, corresponding to 22 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH, will be observed as a local holiday across the city in connection with the annual religious event.
The notification stated that the holiday has been declared in accordance with a resolution approved by the City Council of Karachi.As a result, all offices and departments operating under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the day. However, officials and staff responsible for essential and emergency services will continue to perform their duties as usual to ensure uninterrupted public services.
The annual Urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi attracts thousands of devotees from Karachi and other parts of the country, who visit the saint’s shrine to participate in religious gatherings and commemorative ceremonies. The event is considered one of the city's most significant spiritual observances.
