On the occasion of Human Rights Day, multiple Hurriyat organizations launched a widespread poster campaign across Srinagar and surrounding areas, calling on the United Nations and international human rights bodies to act against ongoing violations by Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, the posters condemned India’s systematic state terrorism, citing land and property seizures, destruction of homes, and the termination of Kashmiri government employees.
They also depicted homes and properties destroyed by Indian authorities, emphasizing that Kashmiris continue to be denied fundamental rights, including their UN-recognized right to self-determination. The posters highlighted the plight of detained leaders, including APHC chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Syeda Aasiya Andrabi. The campaign urged urgent international intervention to halt the abuses and ensure justice for the people of Kashmir.
The posters also demanded a global probe into killings, arrests during raids and CASOs in the occupied territory. The poster drive coincided with the global observance of Human Rights Day, marking the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on December 10, 1948. The campaign also extended to social media platforms, including X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, highlighting the escalating human rights crisis in IIOJK.
