A delegation led by President of Jammu and Kashmir Journalists Forum (KJF) Muhammad Iqbal Mir held a meeting with All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter General Secretary Advocate Pervaiz Ahmed in Muzaffarabad in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5. During the meeting, Advocate Pervaiz Ahmed apprised the delegation in detail of the grave situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the Kashmiri people are facing systematic state oppression, extensive military presence and continuous human rights violations. He said the Kashmiri struggle is not a military conflict but a principled, popular and political resistance movement, the aim of which is the protection of the right to self-determination and fundamental human rights.
Advocate Pervaiz Ahmed, while emphasizing the key role of the media, said in the current digital era, narrative creation has assumed extraordinary importance, and only truthful, responsible journalism can convey the voice of the oppressed people to the global conscience.
He appealed to all journalists and institutions associated with the electronic media of Azad Kashmir to play their moral and professional responsibility in the resistance movement and raise their voice effectively against the ongoing oppression, illegal arrests, extrajudicial measures and demographic change in occupied Kashmir.
He further said on February 5, Kashmir Solidarity Day, a grand and historic rally and public meeting is being organized in collaboration with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Government of Azad Kashmir and the Muhajireen Forum, the aim of which is to express full solidarity with the Kashmiri people and draw the attention of the international community to this long-standing conflict.
He appealed to the media representatives to give full and effective coverage to this program of national and humanitarian importance. On this occasion, President of Jammu and Kashmir Journalists Forum, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, expressed deep concern over the uncertain and alarming situation in occupied Kashmir and assured that he would provide responsible, comprehensive and comprehensive media coverage to the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people.
Hurriyat leaders Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaqul Islam, Abdul Majeed Mir and Mushtaq Ahmed Butt were also present in the meeting. The Journalists Forum included Bashirullah Khan, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Mubashir, Arifah Mahmood, Madiha Azeem, Zeeshan Ali, Gulshad Ahmed Butt, Pervez Durrani, Syed Basir Ali, Syed Saqib, Zafar Asghar, Abdul Qayyum.
