December 11, 2025

The government has accepted major demands of the Grand Health Alliance (GHA) Abbottabad following successful negotiations held on Thursday. According to the GHA spokesperson, the administration agreed to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), register terrorism charges, and suspend the concerned SHO in connection with the Dr. Wardah Mushtaq case.

The government also assured that the remaining demands, including conducting the post-mortem at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital Abbottabad, recovery of gold and money, and suspension of the police officers allegedly involved will be addressed soon and incorporated into the JIT’s scope.

The spokesperson said that on the insistence of Dr. Wardah’s father and family, as well as requests from senior civil society members, the Grand Health Alliance has decided to postpone its protest. He warned that if there is any negligence in fulfilling the commitments, the Alliance will resume its campaign with even greater intensity.

The GHA expressed gratitude to the doctors’ community, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Doctors Council, Young Nursing Association, Paramedical Association, Class-IV Association, media, civil society, and the legal fraternity for their support. The Alliance also thanked the administrations of hospitals across the province for standing with them during the province-wide protest.
