The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways to take timely action against adulteration. The meeting was presided over by Caretaker Provincial Minister for Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Forests Asif Rafiq. The concerned officials of Food Safety and Halal Food Authority informed the Provincial Minister about their performance and the challenges being faced by them. Other participants in the meeting included Secretary Food Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zarif Almani and Director General Food Authority Shahrukh Ali Khan.
The provincial minister awarded certificates of appreciation to the officers who showed the best performance. The meeting discussed in detail ways and means to take timely action against adultery Secretary Food Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zarif Almani and Director General Food Authority Shahrukh Ali Khan also participated in the meeting. The provincial government is trying to provide timely and best quality food items at reasonable prices in the market, Caretaker Minister Asif Rafique told the meeting.
As a result of the best measures, there has been a clear reduction in the prices of food items, Asif Rafiq said. A strict promise has been made in islam regarding adulterers, Asif Rafiq said, adding the government should ensure the availability of quality food items all across the province. In the case of edible items, no concession should be made to those who sell poison and play with the health of the people, Asif Rafiq directed the officials during the meeting. Legal actions against wholesale and manufacturing points of harmful health items should be accelerated, he told the officials. He directed them to take legal action against the sellers of harmful food items without any pressure.
