Lahore High Court (LHC) has expressed strong anger over tree cutting in the city hinting registration of a case against Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) officials who cut trees near Doctors Hospital. Conducting the smog case proceedings on Friday, the court summoned the concerned PHA officers on Monday.
Justice Shahid Karim remarked that a case will be registered against the responsible officers and they will be arrested by the court itself. The hearing of the case has been adjourned until January 12 Lahore.
Azhar Siddique Advocate told the court that trees have been cut between the canal and the road in front of the doctor's hospital and a separate petition has also been filed regarding this.The court inquired the member of the Environment Commission Syed Kamal Haider have you visited the site.
He replied that yes, I have visited but only branches of the trees have been cut. Syed Kamal Haider replied that these have been cut by the PHA people. You should investigate this immediately, Justice Shahid Karim directed.Remember, whoever is responsible, I will register a case against him, Justice Shahid Karim remarked.
