June 22, 2026

In a major blow, another member of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), Anjum Zaman Awan, has dissociated himself from the Committee.Anjum Awan made the announcement in a video message, in which he strongly rejected the group’s recent direction and activities. He said the organization’s narrative had shifted away from its original peaceful agenda. According to him, young people were being misled. He claimed that certain elements were pushing youth towards slogans of separatism and self-rule.

He said these elements were influenced by hostile forces. Anjum Zaman Awan further stated that external agencies and hidden interests were behind the unrest. He alleged that the youth were being used for political purposes. He said a peaceful movement had been turned into disorder. As a result, young people were pushed towards unlawful activities. He added that this had caused serious damage to the future of the youth. He urged them to avoid such path. “I completely disassociate myself from the destructive politics of the Joint Awami Action Committee,” he said in clear words.

He also appealed to the public not to join any group that promotes an anti-state agenda. He stressed the importance of positive and lawful political engagement. This is not the first such development. Earlier, another core member, Advocate Amjad Ali Khan, had also separated himself from the group. Observers say these developments indicate internal differences within the organization. They believe it also reflects growing discontent among some members regarding its direction.
