The Islamabad district administration has announced the suspension of the Metro Bus service in the city until Friday due to security concerns. The administration stated that most delegations of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting have returned r home countries, and the temporary suspension of service is part of heightened security measures. In a statement, the district administration also said that the buses of the feeder routes connected to the Metro Bus service will also be suspended. The suspension of the Metro Bus service has been implemented to ensure the safety and smooth travel of the visiting dignitaries. Traffic plan Earlier, the government had announced a comprehensive traffic plan for Rawalpindi and Islamabad for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference, from October 14 to 16.
The plan included several road closures and diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the high-profile event. From October 14 to 16, all types of heavy traffic was prohibited within the city. Over 1,100 traffic officers had been deployed to manage and facilitate traffic during this period. The Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk was closed to traffic. The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service had also been completely suspended from October 14 to 17. The Metro service will not operate between Sadar Station and Pak Secretariat during this time.
