Police in Dera Ismael Khan on Thursday forced the militants to flee following an exchange of heavy fire with them. According to reports, the police learnt about the presence of militants in Shah Hassan Khel and Shehbazi areas, which lie adjacent to the route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). 

When the police, led by DPO Dera Ismael Khan Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, went to these areas in their pursuit, the militants opened fire at the cops, which resulted in an encounter.   However, the militants disappeared into a nearby forest, taking advantage of the darkness. Following the incident, police cordoned off the area.

Later, DPO Sahibzada said that the police, which were patrolling the CPEC route as per routine, learnt about the presence of militants. “The Force responded swiftly,” he said, adding that the police’s response forced the militants to flee. “Search operation is underway in the area,” Sahibzada informed.
