Authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and kashmir at the behest of Moid-led Indian regime have imposed restrictions on the Congress party’s convention to be held in Kishtwar, today, in support for the restoration of the territory’s statehood. According to Kahsmir Media Service, the administration has set 15 conditions for the convention making the Congress leaders angry. They see it as an attempt to stifle political activity.
Congress district president Mohammad Asif Naqeeb had sought permission for the February 19 event, which was set to be attended by IIOJK Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra and senior leaders. However, the administration has imposed restriction on the programme, and warned organizers of strict action action against holding any such event. Congress spokesperson Ravinder Sharma criticized the move. Party leaders see this as part of a broader pattern of political suppression in the territory following the abrogation of Article 370.
