The newly appointed Registrar of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Brigadier (R) Dr. Rehan Naqvi, has reportedly created an atmosphere of fear and unrest within the institution. According to sources, Dr. Naqvi was appointed to the position just a day after his retirement, despite opposition from the Council and the presence of several more qualified candidates.
Reports suggest that PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj, who currently holds two positions, has aligned himself with the Registrar’s approach. Together, they have imposed strict and unnecessary restrictions on employees and have decided to re-interview staff members who have been serving for over a decade. Sources further revealed that the Registrar and the President previously dismissed dozens of employees to make room for their own preferred candidates.
Senior officers across multiple departments have been replaced with junior staff, while several experienced officials have been made Officers on Special Duty (OSD), receiving salaries without active assignments. Employees claim that they are subjected to daily threats and intimidation from both the President and the Registrar. When questioned about these developments, Dr. Rizwan Taj declined to comment.
