‘No Flood Threat’ as River Jhelum water levels declineBreaking

The Irrigation Department on Saturday confirmed a consistent and reassuring decline in water levels at River Jhelum near the Khushab Bridge, ruling out any flood threat in low-lying or upstream areas. According to the department’s spokesperson, the water flow at 4:00 AM was recorded at 42,151 cusecs, which decreased to 39,925 cusecs by 5:00 AM, and further dropped to 37,699 cusecs by 6:00 AM.

The spokesperson described the rate of decline as satisfactory and stated that there was no cause for concern at this time. He said hourly monitoring of inflow and outflow data was being conducted to make sure constant surveillance of the situation. The DC Sargodha Capt(retd) Muhammad Waseem said the district administration remains fully active with comprehensive arrangements in place to address any potential emergency. 

He said relief camps were set up and rescue teams along with mobile health units were on high alert and surveillance of riverbanks continues and all relevant departments were on standby.  The DC urged citizens not to pay attention to rumors and rely only on verified updates provided by the Irrigation Department and local authorities.
