The Kashmore police said on Wednesday they had killed a notorious bandit during an intelligence-based operation against criminal groups operating in the area. According to a police spokesperson, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent, Police (SSP) Muhammad Murad Ghanghro within the jurisdictions of Tangwani and Jamal police stations, where an intense exchange of gunfire took place between the police and armed suspects.
They said the alleged gang leader namely Manzoor alias Manu Bhalkani, was killed during the operation, while another suspect identified as Malho Bhalkani, and two accomplices were injured and escaped from the scene. The police said the body had been taken into custody and shifted to a nearby hospital for legal formalities. A search operation was continuing in the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with additional police personnel deployed, they added.
The police said Manu Bhalkani as the prime suspect in the killings of two children, Muzammil and Gul Hassan Phanwar. They said the Sindh government had been recommended to announce a reward Rs 5 million for his arrest. According to police, the suspect was wanted in more than 60 criminal cases, including kidnapping for ransom, robbery, extortion, murder, attempted murder, attacks on police, the killing of police personnel and terrorism-related offenses.
