A notorious dacoit, Faqir Shamakzai, was killed and a policeman seriously injured when unidentified armed assailants attacked a prison van carrying the dacoit in Chaman.District Police Officer (DPO) Chaman, Abdullah Imran, said that the dead dacoit was involved in different serious criminal cases, including extortion and kidnapping for ransom. 

The DPO revealed that the attackers were positioned in the nearby mountains from where they started firing on the prison van carrying dacoit Faqir Shamakzai. The tyres of the prison van were burst, and the prison van was also damaged due to heavy firing. 

DPO Abdullah Imran said that the dead dacoit was wanted by the police in different criminal cases.Faqir Shamakzai was also involved in the killing of Inspector Saadullah during an attack on Qila Abdullah Police Station. He also escaped from the Chaman Prison in 2023.
