Punjab police have stepped up anti-kite flying campaign across the province, arresting thousands of suspects and lodging cases.According to a spokesperson of Punjab police, during the crackdown across the province, Including Lahore, 9,813 suspects have been arrested for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, while 9,445 cases have been registered.
Moreover, police recovered 172,296 kites, 14,833 strings with four spinning wheels (charkhi).However, in provincial capital the police arrested 4,575 accused and registered 4,405 cases. They recovered 121,630 kites with 4,723 strings with spinning wheels (charkhi).In his response, IGP Punjab Abdul Kareem said the kite flying at any place across the province will not be entertained no matter what.
Anyone involved in online business of kites and metallic thread would also be taken into custody, he added.Furthermore, the Punjab top cop advised parents to keep their children away from this deadly sport. He also said that if citizens see kite flying anywhere, they should report it by calling 15, demonstrating their sense of responsibility.
