January 22, 2026

Pakistan has accepted an invitation to join the Board of Peace to support sustainable peace in Gaza, the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Tuesday. The move aligns with the Gaza peace initiative under UN Resolution 2803. A Foreign Office spokesperson expressed hope that Pakistan’s participation in the Board of Peace will contribute to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an increase in humanitarian aid for the affected population.

“Pakistan will continue to support the reconstruction of Gaza and address the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the country’s full support for Palestinian self-determination. The FO reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders and stated that the country will play a constructive role as a member of the Board of Peace.

According to the spokesperson, the decision to join was made following an invitation extended by the President of the United States to Prime Minister Pakistan. Pakistan expects that through the Board of Peace, a lasting ceasefire and increased humanitarian support in Gaza will be achieved. The move from Pakistan came after Turkey had expressed its consent to join the global Board of Peace, becoming a key member in efforts to support sustainable peace in Gaza, the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed.

According to a spokesperson, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will sign the Board of Peace agreement on January 22 in Switzerland, marking the country’s formal commitment to the initiative. Highlighting Turkey’s active diplomatic role in promoting global peace, the Foreign Minister noted that the move reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to support stability in conflict regions.

The spokesperson added that high-level consultations on peace and stability are expected during the upcoming Davos Forum, reinforcing Turkey’s engagement with international stakeholders on humanitarian and diplomatic solutions for Gaza.
