Pakistan condemns Modi's provocative threats amid regional volatilityBreaking

May 27, 2025

Pakistan has taken a strong exception to the recent incendiary remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, delivered during an election rally in Gujarat. In a formal statement issued on Tuesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan described Modi’s language as deeply disturbing, laced with hate and a call for violence, and unbefitting of a leader of a nuclear-armed state. “The hate-driven invocation of violence in his remarks is deeply disturbing, not only for its content but for the dangerous precedent it sets in a region already burdened by volatility,” said Khan.

He emphasized that the speech resembled political theatre more than the measured words expected from a statesman and warned that such rhetoric undermines regional stability and the pursuit of lasting peace. He further noted that Prime Minister Modi’s comments represent a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter, which mandates the peaceful resolution of disputes and prohibits the use of threats or force against another nation’s sovereignty.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office interpreted the statement as a deliberate provocation aimed at diverting attention from India’s internal human rights violations and its demographic manipulation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. Shafqat Ali Khan also pointed out the hypocrisy in India’s criticism of extremism, urging New Delhi to confront the rise of religious intolerance, majoritarianism, and systematic discrimination against minorities under the Hindutva ideology. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

However, he made it clear that any threat to Pakistan’s security or territorial integrity would be met with firm and proportionate action, in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter. The FO spokesperson said in his statement, “Pakistan has taken note of the recent remarks by the Prime Minister of India, delivered in Gujarat with the theatrical flourish of a campaign rally rather than the sobriety expected of the leader of a nuclear-armed state. The hate-driven invocation of violence in his remarks is deeply disturbing, not only for its content but for the dangerous precedent it sets in a region already burdened by volatility.

We regret the continued erosion of maturity and decorum in Indian statecraft.” He further stated, “Pakistan views these remarks as a reckless provocation, intended to distract from the ongoing human rights abuses and demographic engineering in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.” The statement concludes with a call for the international community to take serious note of India’s escalating rhetoric and its implications for regional and global peace.
