Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Pakistan and Iran are not just neighbors by geography, but are bound together by deep-rooted ties of history, language, literature, culture, and faith. Speaking at the Pakistan-Iran Business Forum, he emphasised that strengthening these brotherly relations is a top priority in Iran’s foreign policy. He thanked the Pakistani nation for its strong support against Israeli aggression, adding that in today’s era, unity among the Muslim Ummah is crucial.
He said that Pakistan and Iran’s relations are rooted in shared culture and religion. President Pezeshkian paid glowing tribute to Allama Iqbal, calling his poetry a beacon of guidance for the Muslim Ummah. He said Pakistan’s literary and cultural heritage has always reflected Islamic values and the vision of a united Muslim world. He underlined the urgent need for unity among Muslim nations in today’s challenging times.
“As politicians, scholars, and businessmen, we must join hands and play our part for the greater good of the Ummah,” he stressed. He reaffirmed that Iran is fully committed to enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation with Pakistan. Ongoing efforts include the development of joint economic zones, boosting cross-border trade, and improving border security through practical steps. President Pezeshkian also welcomed the exchange of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in various fields, calling them a positive step forward and expressing hope they would be finalized soon.
On international matters, he strongly condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, calling it a serious threat to regional peace and a grave violation of human rights. He urged Muslim countries to speak up with one voice for peace and justice. Also speaking at the forum, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the two nations are committed to expanding trade and opening new doors for investment.
