Pakistan and the United Kingdom agreed to enhance coordination in tackling online harassment of children and curbing human trafficking.According to details surfaced on Thursday, the understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Director General of the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) Graeme Biggar.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, the National Coordinator of NACTA, Director General of the National Crisis and Coordination Centre (NCCIA), Director General of the National Forensic Agency, Additional Secretary for Interior, Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad also attended the meeting. The two sides discussed measures to expand cooperation in counter-terrorism, narcotics control and human trafficking.

They also agreed to promote collaboration in training programmes for officers of various institutions.Both countries decided to make coordination more effective in addressing online harassment of children and to strengthen bilateral assistance for the exchange of prisoners.It was agreed that five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and the United Kingdom would be finalised soon.

Director General Biggar condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed sorrow over the loss caused by the incident.Interior Minister Naqvi said that all links of terrorism lead to a neighbouring country. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s resolve and determination in the fight against terrorism remain exemplary.The NCA chief praised Pakistan’s efforts in combating narcotics and appreciated the country’s role in international cooperation against organised crime.
