Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan will continue to play a pivotal role in ensuring sustainable peace in the region. Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, the prime minister stated that he briefed participants on efforts related to the United States–Iran talks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. 

He expressed satisfaction over progress in the US-Iran negotiations and said Pakistan remains hopeful for positive outcomes. The prime minister noted that Pakistan has emerged as a focal point of global attention by bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table after decades. He added that talks between the two countries were held in Islamabad at Pakistan’s request, with delegations from both sides attending.
