Pakistan’s 13,000 glaciers fast melting due to climate change: PMBreaking

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warned that there are 13,000 glaciers in Pakistan and they are fast melting due to climate change. Addressing International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation-2025 in Dushanbe on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan gets half of its water from these glaciers and Sindh River is its lifeline.

Apprising the participants about the impacts of climate change on Pakistan, the prime minister reaffirmd the country’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and glacier conservation. Condemning the Indian decision to suspend Indus Waters Treaty, Shehbaz Sharif made it crystal clear that Pakistan will not compromise on its share of water. He called for enhancing investment by developed countries in early warning system in developing states.
