International relations and political experts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday widely praised Pakistan’s active mediation role in efforts to resolve the Iran conflict and restore peace in the middle East.  Former ambassador Manzoorul Haq told APP that Pakistan enjoys cordial relations with both Iran and the United States, making its mediation efforts crucial in easing tensions between the two countries.

He emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue remain the most effective means for resolving disputes between states.  He said that the recent visits of foreign ministers from brotherly countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye, to Islamabad and their meetings with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister underscored Pakistan’s growing importance in addressing the evolving Middle East situation.

Former Chairman of the Political Science Department at the University of Peshawar, Professor Dr. A.Z. Hilali, also highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace amid the Iran-US conflict. He reiterated that war is not a viable solution to disputes and stressed that diplomacy remains the best path forward.

Dr. Hilali added that a just resolution of the Palestine issue is essential for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.  The experts expressed hope that Pakistan’s sincere mediation efforts may be positively reciprocated, paving the way for durable peace and stability in the region.
