The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued a rain alert as a western weather system is expected to enter the province from today.The PDMA predicted that Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly areas would receive heavy snowfall and rain from January 20 to 23.
The PDMA stated that several districts of Punjab and Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur divisions will also receive rain during the above-mentioned period. PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Kathia directed the local government department, health department, Rescue 1122, police, forest, C&W, tourism, and transport departments to remain alert during the rainy season.
The PDMA DG advised citizens to avoid travelling during the rainy season. He further advised tourists to adopt precautionary measures in Murree during snowfall and rain. Irfan Ali Kathia said that many Facilitation Centers are established for tourists in different locations of Murree. He advised citizens to contact the Helpline 1129 in case of any emergency.
