The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday raided a unit allegedly involved in the production of counterfeit and adulterated khoya,confiscating and disposing of 300 litres of a hazardous mixture while sealing the premises.According to PFA press release,the action was carried out following a tip-off, after which the unit was placed under surveillance.
During the raid,the enforcement team found that khoya was being prepared using substandard ingredients and harmful chemicals.The adulterated khoya were destroyed on the spot to prevent their distribution in local markets,officials added. A case has been registered against those involved for violating food safety laws and endangering public health.Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food for citizens.
