Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and other ministers departed from Islamabad Monday morning on a one-day visit to Qatar to condole the death of late former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and express condolences to the Emir of Qatar, the Qatari royal family, and the Qatari people on the passing of the late former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

This visit of the Prime Minister to Qatar reflects the decades-long enduring fraternal relations between the Qatari royal family, the Qatari people, and the Pakistani government and people. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar also accompanied the Prime Minister. On Sunday, Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who died at the age of 74.

Moreover, the federal government has decided to observe a day of mourning in Pakistan on Monday (today) over the death of former Emir of Qatar. According to a notification, Government of Pakistan declared July 13 as a national day of mourning. The national flag will fly at half-mast across the country on the national day of mourning.
