The Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme has been launched in the Federal capital, with subsidised petrol being supplied to eligible citizens at designated petrol pumps. Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja made a late-night surprise visit to various petrol pumps in Islamabad to review the implementation of the scheme. The Secretary IT and senior officials of the Islamabad administration accompanied the minister during the visits.

The minister interacted with citizens and inquired about the problems they faced during registration and while obtaining fuel relief. She also briefed citizens on key aspects of the registration process and urged them to follow the prescribed procedure carefully to ensure successful registration. The minister clarified that citizens needed to register only once and there was no need to repeat the registration process. She advised eligible citizens to send “TOK” to 9771 before visiting a petrol pump to generate their fuel token.

The token should then be presented at the petrol pump to obtain petrol at the subsidised rate. The minister directed the administration to ensure uninterrupted provision of relief to all eligible registered citizens. She also ordered strict monitoring of petrol pumps and directed action against those found delaying or refusing to provide subsidised petrol to eligible beneficiaries. Citizens expressed satisfaction after receiving petrol under the scheme and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for providing relief amid rising fuel prices.
