A police officer died when some unidentified assailants who were riding a motorcycle opened fire on him in Karachi. The incident took place in Bin Qasim within the jurisdiction of Steel Town Police Station. The assistant sub-inspector was identified as Mohammad Khan Abro was standing outside his home in plainclothes, when the armed assailants fired six bullets at him.
The ASI received two bullets in his chest and one in his head. Deceased’s son said that as soon as his father came out of his house, he came under severe firing. The difference in statements of police officials came when a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer, Amir Hameed said that the late policeman was receiving life threats, and SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada denied the CTD statement.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from IGP Sindh. The police started an investigation, and they are confident that the accused will be apprehended soon.
