Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Thursday said his party had successfully navigated the major challenges faced during its tenure through a well-planned governance strategy in Sindh.He added that Sindh government was taking concrete measures to bring improvements across all sectors.
Speaking at a cabinet briefing on the Sindh government’s performance held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, Bilawal said special emphasis had been placed on the provincial health sector. He noted that expensive cancer treatment was being provided free of cost to patients under the government’s initiatives.
He said the Sindh government had established 11 hospitals modelled on the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), adding that the NICVD network had treated 2.9 million patients in a single year. Bilawal added that significant reforms had also been introduced in the education sector, including the merit-based recruitment of 100,000 teachers. A scholarship programme has also been launched for students across the province.
