June 05, 2026

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have called for strengthening resolve to protect the environment, use natural resources responsibly and leave a safer and more resilient Pakistan for future generations.   In their separate messages on the World Environment Day being observed on Friday, they said Pakistan remains committed to international cooperation on climate and environmental issues.

President Asif Ali Zardari said that we will continue to support efforts aimed at ecosystem restoration, renewable energy, disaster preparedness and climate-resilient development. The President called on people to use water responsibly, reduce waste, protect forests, preserve biodiversity, and promote cleaner sources of energy.  In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said this year’s theme, “Climate Action,” serves as a powerful reminder that urgent and coordinated global action is indispensable for addressing the environmental challenges confronting humanity.

In his message, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has called for deepening international cooperation to address the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation. He said the Government of Pakistan is committed to placing environmental protection at the centre of its policy priorities. He said we are also advancing climate-resilient housing, accelerating the transition to clean energy and promoting environmentally responsible and sustainable construction practices.
