A well-known religious scholar and former MPA, Maulana Idrees, was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants in the Utmanzai area of Charsadda. Police said the attackers targeted Maulana Idrees’ vehicle, killing him on the spot. Two gunmen accompanying him were seriously injured in the attack. Authorities have transferred the body of Maulana Idrees and the injured to a hospital. 

Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers. Investigations into the incident are ongoing. The attack has caused widespread fear in the community, with local residents, religious figures, and political circles expressing deep sorrow and condolences over the killing.
