In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Gandhi Nagar in Jammu staged a peaceful protest against the illegal establishment of permanent roadside food kiosks and public toilets in residential localities, raising serious concerns over safety, sanitation, and encroachment.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of residents gathered in the area to protest the setting up of food kiosks in the Rehari Zone, saying the move has led to severe traffic congestion, blockage of roads and footpaths, and unhygienic conditions.
Protesters warned that the situation poses risks to women, children, and elderly residents and has disturbed the peaceful character of the neighborhood. The demonstrators also strongly opposed the proposed construction of public toilets close to residential houses, citing threats to privacy, sanitation, and public health.
They said such facilities should not be built in densely populated residential areas without consulting local residents. Residents urged the authorities to act immediately on their concerns and ensure the removal of encroachments to restore safety and hygiene in the area.
