PTI’s Ali Zafar rules out talks with govt, by-election boycottBreaking

August 16, 2025

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary leader in the Senate Ali Zafar said on Saturday that negotiations with the government are not possible at this stage, citing clear instructions from the party founder. However, he stressed that the “doors to dialogue should not be closed” in the long run.

Speaking to a private TV Channel program, Senator Ali Zafar confirmed that the PTI founder has directed the party not to engage in talks with the government. He added that no discussions will be held unless the former prime minister's overall strategy changes. Commenting on the upcoming by-elections, Zafar clarified that PTI has not yet made a final decision on whether to contest.

“There are two opinions in the party. The final decision will be taken in the meeting with the founder,” he said. While some members support a boycott, Zafar personally believes the party should take part in the polls. “My opinion is that we should fight the election. We should not leave the field open,” he remarked. The PTI senator also underlined that the party will continue its legal battle for securing the opposition leader’s position in the Senate.
