Punjab CM approves ‘Rehmat Card’ for widows, orphansBreaking

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved 'Rehmat Card' for widows and children deprived of parental love. The meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz decided that direct financial assistance of up to Rs100,000 will be provided to deserving families under the “Punjab Chief Minister Rehmat Card”. The Rehmat Card will become an economic shield for more than 50,000 destitute families in the first phase. The “Rehmat Card” project will be launched immediately after Eid.

Under the project, widows will get Rs100,000 and orphans Rs25,000 each through the “Rehmat Card”. Applications for the “Rehmat Card” can be made through mobile application, web portal, call, and Center of Zakat Office. Provincial Special Assistant for Ushr and Zakat Rashid Nasrullah gave a detailed briefing on the “Punjab Chief Minister Rehmat Card” project in the meeting. Addressing the meeting Maryam Nawaz said widows in Punjab are no longer needy but are the responsibility of the state and widows will get their due rights and not charity.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said every individual has full right to the resources of Punjab. Government will use all resources to deliver the right to the deserving, Maryam Nawaz said. She said government wants to guide widows on the path of self-employment through “Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card”. Through “Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card”, widows and children will be able to live a dignified life with financial independence, Maryam Nawaz said.
