Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered to prepare a comprehensive package for the rehabilitation of flood victims.Chairing a special meeting in Lahore on Friday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also directed to increase the relief funds in the rehabilitation package. Urban Unit, Board of Revenue and other departments have been directed to take immediate steps for rehabilitation package.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered to consider the problems of the victims sympathetically. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to explain rehabilitation program for flood-affected farmers as well. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to complete survey for rehabilitation package as soon as possible. She directed to explain the most transparent procedure for the survey and digital recording will also be done.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formed a high-level committee for the survey project. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will herself announce the early rehabilitation package for flood victims. Chief Minister also directed to set up marquees in every district for families who cannot return immediately due to destruction of their homes.
Flood-affected families will be shifted to marquees in every district in view of the arrival of cold weather. Maryam Nawaz directed to set up separate marques for men and women and provide clean water, food and other facilities. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also decided to remove encroachments and settlements from waterways.
The meeting agreed on declaring waterways of rivers and streams as red zones for construction. The Chief Minister decided to include Apni Chhath, Apna Ghar program for the rehabilitation of flood victims' houses. We cannot rest until the houses of flood victims are settled, Maryam Nawaz said. When I go to flood-affected areas, I do not see the people's problems, Maryam Nawaz added.
She said people's houses have been destroyed and how can we sit peacefully. Many expectations of flood victims are attached to me and it is my honor and responsibility to fulfill these expectations, Maryam Nawaz said. She said there is a dire need for a master plan to prevent floods and other disasters in Punjab.
