Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s petrol relief package for the public, describing it as an important step amid difficult economic conditions. In a statement, Maryam Nawaz also thanked former prime minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif for his concern for the people during challenging times. She said the PML-N leadership’s efforts to provide relief to the public were commendable.
The chief minister said rising oil prices in the international market were creating difficulties for people in developing countries. She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had introduced the relief package on the direction of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif. Maryam Nawaz noted that increases in petroleum prices were affecting people across all sections of society.
She termed the relief package a positive measure to support the public during challenging economic circumstances. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had launched a special petrol relief scheme a day earlier. Under the scheme, users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will receive Rs100 per litre relief on petrol.
