The Punjab government has intensified efforts to stabilize prices and provide relief to citizens through strengthened market oversight and stricter enforcement measures. In this regard, a meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Sargodha on Tuesday, chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) for Price Control and Commodity Management, Salma Butt.
The meeting reviewed the supply and demand of essential commodities, including vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, and other daily necessities. Salma Butt directed officials to conduct regular market inspections, prominently display official price lists, and ensure the prompt resolution of public complaints. She noted that the Chief Minister has instructed daily monitoring of supply, demand, and quality of essential goods in markets to deliver real relief to the public.
She added that the Punjab government is strengthening the price control system across the province, focusing on curbing profiteering and artificial inflation. Emphasizing the importance of compliance, she said, “Shopkeepers must sell items at fixed rates.” She also highlighted the launch of a digital monitoring system and a toll-free helpline to register complaints against profiteering and hoarding.
