The Punjab government on Monday approved the college teaching interns project under which an amount of Rs4.217 billion has been allocated for giving stipends, ranging from Rs55,000 to Rs65,000 per month, to 8,000 college teaching interns in the province. Under the project, Rs55,000 will be given to an intern teaching at an intermediate level, while the one teaching at the graduate level will be given Rs65,000 per month.These interns will also be issued experience certificates at the end of their internships.
As many as 404 seats have been reserved for minorities, 243 for the disabled, and 40 for members of the transgender community. An alarming situation for the schools, having less than 100 number of students as 2,500 more such schools will be given on contract in December under the Phase-III. So far, 10,000 schools have been outsourced, while 13,000 schools have to be outsourced by the year-end. As many as 5,863 schools were given on contract in Phase-I, while 4,453 in Phase-II.
