Punjab govt okays Rs6.87b for school meal programmeBreaking

The Punjab School Education Department is launching a school meal programming costing 6.87 billion rupees from next month.Under this programme, 10,28,000 students will receive milk for three days and milk with biscuits for one day. The Punjab Chief Minister has formally approved the initiation of the meal programme across 7,294 schools, which will officially begin in September.

The school meal programme will be rolled out across 13 districts of Punjab during the current fiscal year, continuing the provision of milk and biscuits in these regions. While the school meal programme was previously initiated in three districts during 2024, it was subsequently planned for 13 districts during the 2024–2025 period.

The targeted districts include Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Kot Addu. Other districts included in the programme are Layyah, Lodhran, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Taunsa, and Vehari.
