Punjab Inspector General (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar Wednesday said there were serious threats of law and order situation in the upcoming general elections with groups possibly fighting with each other. Punjab's top cop was talking to the media after the inauguration of an art exhibition at Alhamhra Art Gallery. He said the Punjab Police maintained law and order the police by giving outstanding duty during Muharram and Christmas. “Many terrorism activities were foiled due to the conviction of the police,” he said. Dr Usman said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has started working on the threats and Punjab police in the past year have made 60 percent arrests in the May 9th case of the offenders. “The properties of the offenders will be seized according to the law,” adding, claimed that transfers and postings of the police are being done according to the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He said the cases of Moonis Elahi were sub judice and dealt in according to the procedure of arresting the offenders.
