Punjab imposes Section 144 around airports, airbases to ensure flight safetyBreaking

The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 within a 15-kilometer radius around airports and airbases.The Punjab Home Secretary imposed the restrictions under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898 and the orders will be enforceable within the premises of all airports in the province. 

Under Section 144, a complete ban has been imposed on pigeon flying, fireworks, use of laser lights/drones, and disposal of animal waste around airports and airbases.

Birds are attracted to exposed waste, which poses severe threats to aircraft and passengers. These restrictions will be in effect across the province from June 5 to June 20 and the ban applies within a 15-kilometer radius of all Pakistan Air Force bases and airports throughout Punjab.  

The decision has been made to protect human lives and property as the mentioned activities pose serious threats to flight operations and safety. According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, all deputy commissioners are directed to ensure proper cleanliness arrangements around airports and their surrounding areas.
