Pakistan Railways has started considering to increase train fares after sharp rise in prices of petroleum products.According to sources, Railways authorities considering increasing train fares by more than 10 percent. Diesel price increased by Rs55 per liter which also increased railway expenses.
A total of 350,000 liters of diesel are used on the railway system daily. Diesel price increase has increased the burden on the railway system by Rs19.25 million per day. Diesel price increase will cost the railways an additional Rs577.5 million per month.
