Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing a cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Friday, expressed Pakistan’s willingness to engage in dialogue with Afghanistan to ensure regional peace. However, he emphasized that improved relations with Afghanistan cannot coexist with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) freely operating from Afghan soil. “It is our heartfelt desire to foster better relations with Afghanistan, but the unfortunate reality is that the TTP is conducting attacks from across the border, which is unacceptable,” the Prime Minister stated.
The PM reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces are effectively tackling terrorism but stressed that “cross-border terrorism policies are unsustainable.” PM Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan's readiness to hold discussions with Afghanistan for peace in the region while firmly rejecting any tolerance for TTP’s activities. The Prime Minister also mentioned that essential medical supplies were delivered to Kurram district via helicopter, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing regional challenges.
