The newly formed Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government is facing early signs of internal friction as several Pakistan People's Party (PPP) ministers have expressed dissatisfaction over the distribution of ministries. According to media reports, Multiple ministers have reportedly raised reservations about the portfolios assigned to them, with some even refusing to take charge until their concerns are addressed.
Sources say a number of PPP lawmakers are particularly unhappy that key ministries were allocated to what they describe as “specific groups,” prompting fears of a fresh political rift within the ruling setup. The growing discontent has compelled the party leadership to step in swiftly. A coordination committee—comprising senior figures including Chaudhry Riaz—has begun reaching out to disgruntled cabinet members in an effort to defuse tensions.
Ministers who feel sidelined insist that the allocation of departments “without consultation” is unacceptable. They have demanded a review of the decision-making process, urging the leadership to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of responsibilities. According to insiders, the party high command has assured dissatisfied members that the issue will be resolved soon. However, the ongoing internal negotiations may lead to delays in the full functioning of the cabinet.
