Saving water equivalent to saving lives, says CDA ChairmanBreaking

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad Water organized the Potential Development Partners Conference at a local hotel.  Federal Secretary for Interior Mohammad Khurram Agha and Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa participated as special guests in the conference, held in collaboration with UNICEF under CDA Islamabad Water. Representatives from potential development partners, including UNICEF, JICA, World Bank, ADB, AFD, KfW Bank, Embassy of Denmark, IFC, PWON, and UN-Habitat attended the conference. 

The conference aimed to promote cooperation with the Islamabad Water Agency on the importance of water, its conservation, and meeting future water needs, while also discussing measures to ensure water availability in light of climate change impacts.  In his address, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that water is a great blessing from Allah Almighty and its efficient use is every individual’s responsibility. He emphasized that saving water is equivalent to saving lives, as every drop is precious.  CDA is committed to providing clean and safe water to its citizens without interruption, leaving no stone unturned in this regard.

The CDA is not only aware of water’s importance but is also focusing on sustainable solutions to prevent any inconvenience to residents. In this regard, the CDA is not only preparing data on future water requirements but also exploring all possible sources to ensure water supply in Islamabad.   The CDA Chairman expressed his keen desire for full cooperation and support from development partners and also highlighted that the establishment of the Islamabad Water Agency is a significant step forward in this regard.

He urged development partners to play an active role in equipping the agency with modern facilities, experts, technical support, and advanced technology.  He added that with their support, Islamabad’s water needs can be effectively met. The CDA is also focusing on alternative water sources and accelerating various projects to modernize the water supply system.   He appealed to citizens to play their part in preventing water wastage. He mentioned that smart water usage, and conservation measures are being implemented by CDA.

Additionally, educational institutions, social organizations, and media can play a key role in raising public awareness.   Representatives from potential development partners highlighted the importance of water conservation and meeting future demands in Islamabad, assuring their full support and cooperation with CDA to ensure the provision of clean and quality water. Federal Secretary for Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha praised the joint efforts of local and international development partners in water conservation and supply projects.

He stated that CDA, in collaboration with UNICEF, has taken a commendable step by leveraging the technical expertise and experience of potential water development partners.  He expressed hope that CDA Islamabad will continue to play its role in ensuring water supply for the city’s residents. He further stressed that vigorous efforts for water conservation are indispensable.
