An accident involving the 146 DN Sukkur Express train occurred Monday morning near Hyderabad, resulting in the derailment of three bogies. The train was en route to Karachi from Sukkur, where it met the accident near Hyderabad. According to initial reports, the derailment happened while many passengers were asleep. Some fell from their berths due to the sudden jolt, with railway officials confirming minor injuries among a few travellers. No fatality has been reported so far.
The incident forced the closure of the down track, halting train movement in the region. Authorities have suspended services temporarily, and delays are expected on the Sukkur-Karachi route until the track is cleared. Railway officials have dispatched a team to the site, and restoration work began shortly after the accident. The process is expected to take approximately four hours, with efforts underway to re-rail the bogies and resume operations.
It is necessary to mention here that last month, the Ministry of Interior took the Federal Constabulary (FC) on board to assist Pakistan Railways (PR) in safeguarding railway tracks, rolling stock, and reclaiming valuable commercial land from illegal occupants across major cities.
